Australian actress Elizabeth Debicki has been cast as Princess Diana of Wales in the last two seasons of the hit Netflix series The Crown.
Debicki (who stars in a supporting role in Christopher Nolan’s Tenet) will reportedly take over from the fourth season’s Emma Corrin.
She joins co-stars Jonathan Pryce and Imelda Staunton for the final two seasons of the royal drama, which will cover the 1990s and the early 2000s.
Speaking on her casting, Debicki said:
Princess Diana’s spirit, her words, and her actions live in the hearts of so many. It is my true privilege and honor to be joining this masterful series, which has had me absolutely hooked from episode one.”
The last two seasons will include the split of Princess Diana and Prince Charles’ marriage and her death in 1997.
Elizabeth Debicki made her screen debut in the Australian wedding comedy A Few Best Men (2011), and appeared in The Great Gatsby (2013), for which she won an AACTA Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role.
Her other movie credits include Macbeth (2015), The Man from U.N.C.L.E. (2015), Everest (2015), The Night Manager (2016), Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017), Widows (2018), and Tenet (2020).
