President Vladimir Putin of Russia has said that the country has developed a coronavirus vaccine which has been registered and that it has already been used on one of his daughters.
Per a report from USA Today, Putin made the comments on Tuesday, August 11, 2020, disclosing that the vaccine has proven effective during testing, offering lasting immunity from the pandemic.
The Russian leader emphasized that the vaccine underwent the necessary tests, adding that one of his daughters had received a shot of it and is feeling well.
It has been announced by the Russian authorities that medical workers, teachers, and other risk groups will be the first to be inoculated.
Russia is the first nation to register a COVID-19 vaccine. Many scientists in the country and abroad have been skeptical, however, questioning the decision to register the vaccine before Phase 3 trials that usually take months and involve thousands of people.
