Contrary to what has been circulating the internet, alleged internet fraudster Hushpuppi has not been released from prison.
Rumors of Hushpuppi’s release have been denied by his lawyer, Gal Pissetsky, even as screenshots of the Bureau of Prisons website allegedly showing his release went viral.
According to the details on the site, Hushpuppi was released on July 20, 2020.
Responding to it on Wednesday, July 22, 2020, Pissetsky told Premium Times that the bureau’s records showed ‘released’ because of Hushpuppi’s transfer to California.
His words:
These reports are not true. He has not been released. The Bureau of prisons website shows that he was released simply because he is being transferred now to California.”
Hushpuppi’s case was transferred from Illinois to the Central District of California for prosecution last Monday.
