14-Year-Old Pakistani Girl Set Ablaze Following Refusal To Marry Her Cousin

The life of a 14-year-old girl in Pakistan came to a tragic end after she was doused with petrol following her father’s refusal to get her married to her cousin.

Reports reveal that the girl’s father, Mohammad Yousuf, turned down a marriage proposal from his brother, Mohammad Yaqoob, who intended to wed the teenager named Sadia to his son in Chiniot, Punjab.

Gulf News reports that Sadia’s father had already betrothed his daughter to another relative two months earlier.

The police disclosed that the uncle was lurking around until Sadia returned to her home and poured some petrol on her body, setting her ablaze.

Sadia was left alone with her injuries as no one was in the house when the incident occurred. After the attack, she managed to escape and was rushed to the hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

Reports say the victim’s parents and other family members tried to cover up the crime by telling people that the girl had been injured in a horrific cylinder blast and had died from her injuries.

The police had found contradicting factors in the statements of Sadia’s parents and other relatives and eventually took the uncle into custody where he confessed while being questioned.
